Training Courses

Getting started: the Foundation Licence

To begin transmitting on amateur radio you need to pass a simple multiple-choice test called the Foundation exam.

Already an amateur?

Why not step up for more privileges, extra frequency bands and a higher power licence? and take the next step to the Intermediate Licence

And finally – the ultimate amateur radio qualification, giving you full access to all allocated frequency bands, higher power & the option to obtain reciprocal licences to operate abroad, the Full Licence.

You will need to have passed Foundation to take the Intermediate exam, and to have passed Intermediate to take the Full exam.

However there is an option to go Direct to Full Licence examination, this is specifically aimed at aspiring amateurs who are already competent in related technical subjects. However, it is open to all, and Foundation and Intermediate amateurs are free to enrol for the Direct to Full examination.

Training

The Central Radio Amateur Circle offers online training for the Foundation, Intermediate and Full Amateur Licence exams. This training is additional to the students self study program.

Once the student is confident they have achieved the necessary standards they can then book and pay for their own exam at a time to suit themselves.

If you wish to enrol on a course (maximum of 5 students) please complete the contact form. Once you have had confirmation that you have been accepted onto the course you must attend the enrolment day at the club venue to pay your non refundable tuition fees.
